We’re back, baby! Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival, produced by and located in the Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) Saint Paul returns with new murals, programs and events this MAY through SEPTEMBER.  We continue to allow for safe and socially distanced artist and audience participation. After a year apart, we know now more than ever that public art connects and engages the people, places, and economy of our growing creative district. Join us for a reimagined summer of live painting, community collaborations, artist talks, artist-led workshops, mural tours, and more!

2021 MiDsummer Happening

Discover the people, places, and murals near Raymond & University Avenues at a free, outdoor event. This family-friendly midsummer “happening” will celebrate the 2021 Chroma Zone Mural & Art Festival July 24, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot at 2417 University Ave West.

View fullsize Last but most definitely not least on our artist roster is @computershock Alex Smith is an artist, designer and educator based in Saint Paul. His work ranges from murals to t-shirts, and is deeply rooted in aerosol art. Alex’s work centers around graffiti inspired abstraction and layered collage. He currently leads the Textile and Screen printing program at Juxtaposition arts and teaches aerosol art classes to young people during the summer. Alex’s mural work focuses on futuristic placemaking and adding new layers and representation to the visual landscape of the Twin Cities. View fullsize We’re excited to have @missy_whiteman onboard our 2021 artist lineup! Missy Whiteman (Northern Arapaho and Kickapoo), an Emmy nominated writer, director, producer and multi media artist. Whiteman understands her work to be a voice for her ancestors, their stories and ancestral wisdom.  Her late father Ernest Whiteman, influenced her work, with the gift of artistic vision and practice of art as ceremony. While based in part Indigenous traditional practices and perspectives, her work also addresses themes of historical genocide, loss of culture, and land in relation to colonization. Whiteman questions the connection of life, death spirit world and the rebirth process of revitalizing DNA memory, spirit healing and redefinition of cultural identity. Many of Missy’s films have screened on international national and local venues such as The Walker Art Center, National Geographic All Roads Festival and Bilabo Spain.  Whiteman is a current recipient of the McKnight Fe
