Chroma Zone Mural Artist 2024

Owns The Battle

Community Mural Project

Owns The Battle is a Lakhota cultural brand founded by Lisa DeCory & Thomasina Top Bear.

Our mission is to help revitalize Oceti Sakowin culture within our communities by normalizing tradition, language, and designs in everyday use through clothing, crafts, and murals. We are dedicated to the pursuit of learning and education, using traditional art and stories as inspiration. We hope to make a meaningful impact to honor our Ancestors and create a better future for the next generations to thrive.

The 2024 Community Mural project will be led by Thomasina Top Bear, a self-taught artist, muralist, published illustrator, and organizer from the Oglala Lakota and Santee Dakota Nations. She is a board member of the international all-female paint crew Few & Far Women and co-founder of City Mischief Murals, an all-BIPOC artist collective centered on healing through art. Specializing in large-scale murals, her work can be seen on the sides of buildings throughout the country. She draws influences from her Oceti Sakowin culture while using art to express thoughts on community, social justice, spirituality, and togetherness.
