Chroma Zone Mural Artist 2021

Tom Jay

I am an early-career artist in pursuit of being a full-time artist and muralist. My main medium is spray paint, but I also explore with acrylic paints, epoxy and a little bit of furniture design.

A skilled typography artist and muralist whose main medium is spray paint, Tom Jay is an early-career artist and full-time creative. In addition to work with friend and mentor Peyton Scott Russell, Tom was a featured artist at the 2021 Minnesota State Fair’s “Joyful World Mural Park.”

About his BANG IT! mural:

“I wanted to demonstrate the use of color and tones. I wanted to avoid using black for any outlining, and focus on tones to emphasis on depth. I am still contemplating on changing the color pallet to cool colors like blues and teals with a hint of pale yellows.

As for the background, I wanted to use a 3 toned contrast in juxtaposed to the neon sign. I would like to continue with the ‘sunset’ feel with the background. With that being said, depending on the materials cost, I am open for any suggestions keeping in mind the texture of the wall. “
